Ted Talk: Final Porject Ideas

"My Cell Phone Is My Life!"-- What does that mean? How has this seemingly new technology so quickly and effectively consumed modern society.

Guilty of the above statement, for my final project I want to explore how my generation has so blindly and unanimously submitted to the wireless world of technology. Once heralded as a "safety precaution" used only in the case of emergency, the cell phone has evolved into the essential life-line of people's lives. Boasting calendars, texting, internet, email, photos, and video, cell phones condense our lives into encoded messages and images. Is this merely a trendy fad destined to go out of style with the next generation, or is this the seed of a new wireless community meant only to grow and spread with each new upgrade, each new phone model???

  1. Cell phones rule our lives. I don't think it is a fad, but I like that you raised that question. Your project sounds interesting because we all are so connected by cell phones and look at them and use them throughout each day.

  2. As a cellphone addicted person, I am very much looking forward to your TED talk. Do you ever leave your house without it and feel like you are missing an essential part of who you are? I know I do...

  3. This is a really cool idea, and I am guilty of cell phone addiction too. I'm sure if you wanted to for you TED talk you could interview some older people who don't use cell phones and feel that they are bad for society. I think you are on to something interesting when you posed to idea that the cell culture is only going to keep growing.
    Good luck!

  4. I've been hearing a lot about this "sexting" business in the media lately. What's that all about?
